MacKillop College

Our Story

MacKillop Catholic Regional College began its life as a junior secondary school for girls in 1970. The initial enrolment was 102 girls in Years 7, 8 and 9 under the care and leadership of Sister Giovanni Farquer, the Principal, and Sisters Clare Schiltz and Zita Moore. The school consisted of one building divided into four classrooms, an office and a staff room. To commemorate the founder of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, it was decided by the parishioners to name the new school Mary MacKillop Girls' College. Within ten years the College experienced a number of significant changes. The school's population increased, necessitating the construction of more buildings.

As the demand for the provision of quality Catholic education for both girls and boys in the local area increased, it was decided that the College would become co-educational and would adopt a new name 'MacKillop Catholic Regional College'.
