COVID-19 – 15 July
UPDATE 1

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I trust this finds you safe and well. COVID-19 continues to be a challenge to us and all communities. Fortunately, we are familiar with what it means to go into lockdown and how to continue to operate successfully.

As you would now be aware, the Victorian Government has announced an immediate lockdown until midnight on Tuesday 20 July.

Remote Learning will commence for students tomorrow (Friday 16 July).

All students were asked to take home their laptops and learning materials with them this afternoon. If your child needs to access anything from their lockers e.g. textbooks, laptops etc. then we ask that you please contact the College Administration Office to arrange an appointment time when you can come into the College. This will ensure relevant staff are available to supervise the process.

When arriving at the College, please proceed to the Administration Office rather than going straight to the relevant building, and check in using the contact tracing check-in (QR Code).

Please find our documentation explaining how Remote and Online Learning works at MacKillop College in SEQTA Engage. Hopefully, all of you are well aware of our processes and procedures. Families new to the College this term can expect a phone call from a member of staff offering further support.

Those families requiring onsite supervision for remote learning are asked to email principal@mackillop.vic.edu.au to inform us. On-site supervision is available for students according to the following criteria:

  • Students whose parents and/or carers are authorised workers who cannot work from home and where no other supervision arrangement can be made
  • Vulnerable students, including:
    • Students in out-of-home care
    • Students deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home.

At this stage, all VCE SACs will be postponed until students return to the College.

The following College events have also been postponed. Further advice regarding rescheduling will be released at a later date:

  • Year 10 Retreat
  • SACCS Chess
  • Year 7 Wellbeing program
  • Year 9 Premiere League
  • Year 8 Camp (8 Red and 8 Maroon)

Information regarding events scheduled for later in the week will be shared when available.

Further information will be shared as it comes to hand.

Stay safe. God bless.

Kind regards,
Rory Kennedy
Principal
