COVID-19 – 19 October UPDATE 1

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I write to you today to provide an update on the roadmap to onsite learning, how it impacts the College and community, as well as to provide yourself and your child with two documents (available through Operoo and SEQTA) to help prepare for the return to onsite learning.

On Sunday 17 October 2021, the Premier announced a significant easing of the current COVID-19 restrictions, beginning at 11:59pm on Thursday 21 October 2021. It is with no small degree of gladness, that I look toward the staggered return of students to the College one week earlier than previously anticipated.

As of Friday this week (22 October), Year 7, 10 and 11 students will all return to onsite learning, with the Year 7 and 11 students able to remain learning on campus from this point onwards. Unit 3/4 VCE students will be expected to study from home in preparation for exams commencing Wednesday 27 October. In the event of the need for a Unit 3/4 student to contact teachers for assistance, this will be done remotely.

Due to the complex nature under which the Year 8-10 students will be moving between on- and offsite learning, I have a summary of the relevant Dates and Learning Type for you here. Please refer to this up until the time that we are all on campus full-time once more.

Unfortunately, those students completing an accelerated subject are not permitted onsite on days their year level is learning remotely. On such occasions, teachers will provide work to be completed remotely.

Under the current roadmap, all students across the state will return to full-time onsite learning by Friday 5 November, however we wait to hear whether further amendments will be made to that final week of the part-time schedule. I will provide you with more information a little closer to the time.

As mentioned above, I wish to now make you aware of the How to Prepare for a Return to School – Community Guide, as well as the How to Prepare for a Return to School – Student Checklist, which are available through Operoo and SEQTA. For the second year running, our students have endured extraordinary circumstances while completing their learning, and these documents will hopefully serve to assure we are all united in providing the best support in this coming transition.

As always, I thank you for your steadfast understanding and support over these past two years. I am sure I am not alone in my anticipation and relief at knowing we will soon be able to see our loved ones again in person.

Take care and God bless.

Kind regards,
Rory Kennedy
