Ella Sabljak

MacKillop College wants to remind everyone to get behind Ella Sabljak and the Australian Gliders, who will be competing in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games this week. This is what Ella had to say last year when we asked for a few words on her achievements after leaving the College.

I have achieved so much since graduating in 2010.

I began studying primary school teaching at Victoria University as well as pursuing my wheelchair basketball career. I moved to the Gold Coast and graduated with a Bachelor of Primary School Education from Griffith University and now work as a primary school teacher locally.

While studying and working, I trained full time as an elite athlete and have represented Australia playing wheelchair basketball. I was selected to play for Australia at the 2011 inaugural Under 25 women’s wheelchair basketball tournament, where we won a silver medal. From there I captained the Under 25 women’s team to another silver medal in 2015. My most recent accomplishment is captaining the Australian Gliders in the AOZ Championships in Thailand, where we qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
