COVID-19 – 17 August UPDATE 1 – MacKillop Day

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As a College, I am conscious that our annual MacKillop Day celebrations unite us and promote a sense of pride across our school. MacKillop Day is one of the major celebrations of who we are and of the charism of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. It is a day that embraces the joy we find in living out the College vision in our daily practise. As a community, we are:

Celebrating all life

Challenging all people

Dreaming the new day.

For many years now, these words have been the beacon to which we strive. We consciously challenge all our community members to live their best lives. We look to the future and dream what might be while we deliberately take the time to celebrate who we are and what we achieve.

It is for this reason that the formal cancellation of our MacKillop Day celebrations for 2021 – the second year running – comes with such a heavy heart. Having already postponed the celebrations once, I had hoped we might see the day occur as planned, however due to the current lockdown and the restrictions associated with COVID-19, this simply won’t be possible.

I understand that this decision will bring great disappointment to all our students and staff. I look forward to when we can celebrate together again and, when we do, it will be with renewed gusto and passion.

God bless.

Kind Regards,
Rory Kennedy
