Message from the Principal – Term 2 Break 2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is with significant appreciation that I reflect on all that has been achieved during Term 2. We started well with the College Musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – our first musical and sell-out crowds in two years.

Sport, Performing Arts and Outdoor Education were in full swing, despite the crisp cold training and camping conditions being less than ideal. We’ve had great success in SACCSS and, although some changes and cancellations were still required due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I am extremely proud of the way in which the students, staff and community of MacKillop College have readily adapted whenever there was a need.

In honour of reviewing our progress and achievements, I would like to take this opportunity to advise that the 2021 Annual Report to the School Community is available to view on the College website. With all that’s occurred in the past two and a half years, it’s an interesting snapshot of the recent impact and perseverance of our College.

Similarly, I would like to thank everyone within the community for their support and understanding over these past months. Particularly the support of the College’s mandated attendance procedures. Our students have come a long way since the persistent lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, and it has been crucial to stand by them as they readjust to being onsite with their peers, and increased learning and social responsibilities. The focus on wellbeing and social-emotional learning has never been more important, and it is deeply gratifying to know our students have the support systems and staff in place who are committed to their wellbeing and health.

As always, I hope this break will be one of rest and recuperation for all, and look forward to what promises to be a challenging, rewarding and engaging Term 3.

God bless.

Kind regards,
Rory Kennedy
Principal
